 Thanks, seems like special treatment. I must say, it's hard to keep track of everything going on over there.

Are you kidding? Swedes are incredible hockey players. I was truly in awe when I saw DIF play.

The swedes that I came in contact with were incredibly nice. We didn't stick out like sore thumbs though and I think we fooled a lot of them until they started asking us specific things. Then we looked like deer in headlights... or would that be moose for you? I had never seen a moose crossing sign until then :D

You don't even understand how badly we want to go back, we are already planning. How great, in our minds, it would be to learn swedish. I am quite jealous

By the way, why doesn´t DIFhockey.se have an english page like DIF Fotball?

Great, a english thread!

Just want to say you guys a "hi" from Cologne/Germany. My girlfriend and me spend a week in Stockholm in October and went to the Brynäs game (4-4). We had really interessting talks with a lot of you guys, mainly because of my Daniel Rudslätt Cologne Sharks jersey. I really had no idea that he still gets that much respect at Stockholm. Comparing your chants with our at Germany was pretty interesting, too.

We are still following how you play your season sporadical. It´s not that easy to follow your league but google translate helps a lot. Would be great if this threat stays alive for a while. ;)

If you write here, the thread will keep alive and if you have questions I´m sure you will get answers.
You can follow Elitserien in English on this link.

That's too funny Tiburon  My boyfriend and I went to the exact same game.

Google helps me a lot too. I have to have two pages open, the original and then the translated one.

I wonder who else went to that game because I got stopped by a guy from Moscow. A lot of diversity.

El_Tiburon: Interesting in a positive way or in a negative way? Are the Djurgården supporters better than those you have in Germany or the other way around?

It was neither positive or negative. ;) The chants are obviously mostly "same melody, different words". On the other hand the "Hardy Nilssons järnkaminer! Johanssons järnkaminer!"-chant ( ) is very impressive. The "staccato" and the splitted "standing area" really pushes the crowd makes it special.

We also had that kind of splitted chants at Cologne, but the melody parts are longer, which don´t creates that much energy. We also use it on the road ( like here ). I´ve talked to a few other german fans which visited your games during the last month and they all were impressed by that one (despite no one of us understands the meaning of the word "järnkaminer". The dictionary says "iron stove"!? ). Beside of that: Do you guys know that Hardy Nilsson is still a hockey legend in Germany? :)

You know, there are always parts of a game where the atmosphere went bad and the crowd stops to act. During that game I went to it seems like there was always someone who starts the "järnkaminer"-chant at moments like that and even if not everyone was involved at least a lot of guys supported anyway. That worked out pretty well and that was impressive, too. There are not many arenas at Germany where it works as good. At Cologne definitely not.

It´s also pretty interesting how you handle the "standing area". My girlfriend and I purchased tickets for that area and went right behind the goal because at germany thats where "true hockey fans under the age of 40" watch a game. Well, we felt some kind of unfitting at that place with all the young people next to us. The ages are much more mixed on the standing areas on a german arena.

One of the guys I´ve talked with after that game said to me that the idea of the "best hockey support in Sweden" was a important reason to leave the Golben Arena. I don´t know how many times DIF sells out the Hovet, but playing there definitely seems to be a big part of the good support. I know what I talk about, the high roof of the Cologne Sharks home, the LANXESS arena ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/d ... ie0708.jpg ) , almost kills the noise, while the low roofs of rinks like the Eissporthalle Iserlohn ( http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3556/332 ... 22b8_b.jpg ) sends the noise right back to the peoples ears. In the end the DIF-support was pretty good but not as loud as it is at such small rinks - but much better than it is into most of the big german arenas.

I even don´t know if the swedish people felt that Stockholm was some kind of "navel of the hockey world" for a few days. We met that much nice hockey fans from all around the world. Much different to what I´ve felt at the World Championship tournament in Germany 2001. :)

Well, during the time both of you were here, it was two NHL games as well. Could explain why you met some other non-swedish people, 'cause I haven't seen/heard a single foreigner since that game (Except Rögle-fans, but that doesn't count I geuss).

Triburon, did you really experienced it like we sang the same melody all the time?
I know we don't have lots of different melodies but I'm sure we use over 10 different ones every game.
Compared to the other Swedish hockey clubs that's 9 more than they use. ;D

I'm pretty sure he meant that many of the melodies we use are the same as they use in Germany. Not that we just used the same melody over and over again. :)
