Re: Visiting Sweden
Is there any kind of decent parking near the two Arenas or is it best to take public transport? I am staying southwest of the Arenas and it looks to be off the grid for public transport.
I googled to arenas after I posted last and saw they are literally right next door to each other. That is a very convenient game to go to. If that schedule is set do you know when tickets go on sale?

Re: Visiting Sweden
There is a parking-house called Globen i think, that is combined with the stadium area.
If you are in time for the first game there will be no troubles finding a place to park.
You can also stand somewhere at Gullmarsplan (10 minutes walk from the area), its cheaper.

Re: Visiting Sweden
I think we read somewhere that there is a decent amount of parking in the area, at the very least. We were thinking of going early before the 1st game and perhaps doing some shopping, and it would be nice to have a place to put everything instead of carrying it everywhere. But we tend to be early to every game just to watch practice and see the entire arena.
There was also something that said the arena only took credit and then a little text after that said it accepted both cash and credit. And that no recording devices were allowed at all. I was hoping to take my camera but wasn't sure if they would care that it can do videos too.

Re: Visiting Sweden
Dont think you have to hide your camera away. Its printed at every ticket you buy that you cant bring recording equipment, but noone cares. Take your camera with you.
If your going shopping there is a nice mall in the area called Globen Shopping.
Quite ok, and the best part is the official DIF-store...
Happy shopping! See you at the Wings game!

Re: Visiting Sweden
That's good to hear about the camera, I would have been greatly disappointed
From the online store I see a lot of things that I might want, will have to exercise control.
You might see me, but I'll have no idea who you are

Re: Visiting Sweden
Hello, just wonders if Djurgården have a Good reputation in USA. And does Amerikans now any thing about Djurgården hockey or do they just focus on the NHL.
Re: Visiting Sweden
Honestly, I don't know if they have any clue. There are some people that take a particular liking to a specific player and learn nearly everything about them and tend to look back into where they came from. Although, I suppose I always thought that many fans only think of what is right in front of them and are completely unaware of what is happening elsewhere in the world.
Hockey is not exactly a popular sport in the US, atleast in the majority of the areas. There are certain areas where it thrives and many that I'm amazed it can survive. Teams like the Hurricanes and Sharks I'm amazed they sell so well in their area, but the sport in itself doesn't get the coverage it should.
For the Wings, the Swedes are, I think, a large selling point. Every one of them is considered a large favorite, but I think in the common form of a Swede, not what team did they play for before coming over or who developed them in such a way. Which I think is wrong.
The little coverage I've seen is for certain "popular" players. Now they show a tiny bit more because it's playoffs but they are brief excerpts, they don't go into detail as far as players and contracts. I see, not even a lot, Crosby and Ovechkin. Other than that you have to do miraculous plays in order to be mentioned on normal sports shows.
I think the NHL keeps it very tight and strict, granted they look for prospects but they don't exactly give credit where it is due. I suppose that's partially why I'm so interested in Djurgården and others like it. To see if it's better, more exciting, more competitive or atleast more passionate.
The other thing I thought was the NHL is trying to be more "family friendly". Refs jump in the middle of small arguments just in case a fight might break out. They might throw a couple punches but no one really can settle anything. And because of the family friendliness that majority of Americans are so.. patriotic? Self absorbed? That it comes down to an all-American boy or line or team can dominate Canadians, Russians, Swedes, etc. For some reason it comes down to America versus the world, so they sell the American face more than the others. But when it comes to the original 6 I don't think it's that way. But I still don't think people are aware of their former teams.

Re: Visiting Sweden
As Busmicke said, nobody cares. I videotaped aprox. 20 minutes at a game two years ago.Prelude skrev:That's good to hear about the camera, I would have been greatly disappointed![]()
Not the actual game, though. Just the crowd. Ok, I admit, maybe some occasional brawls here and there, but not the actual game, I swear

So bring the camera, videotape as much as you want as long as you don't follow the action on the ice with the camera - that might look suspicious

Re: Visiting Sweden
I think at most on a blank card for my camera I can only video about 13 minutes. I'm not sure exactly. I don't use the feature often. I know I'll be taking a lot of normal pictures, left and right, and of things that seemingly are pointless.DIF_Soldier skrev: As Busmicke said, nobody cares. I hope you're not saying they brawl in the stands.. should I be watching out?

Also, to add to before... I purchased a Swedish Nicklas Lidstrom jersey and my boyfriend has worn it to a couple games and we've heard comments about Sweden in passing. So they know the Tre Kronor symbol. I'm pretty sure that we will be buying Djurgarden jerseys and I thought of wearing them to a Wings game in the US. The Swede players should know what they are. Not only that we've seen 4 or 5 yellow Swedish jerseys on other people. Not sure if they are from Sweden or not. So, you definitely are being represented

Will opening day tickets for Djurgarden sell out fast? Should I be in a rush to buy them?

Good idea wearing a Djurgården-jersey at a Wings-game. I'm sure Niklas Kronwall will appreciate it!

Re: Visiting Sweden
I love the fights, but NHL won't let them happen as much. I don't like to see anyone get too hurt, but some blood won't kill you.
I like the peaceful. And do they stand the whole time? I thought someone said that, one of the players.
Wait, it's not opening day, it's the 3rd day I think. But I would think that they sell out pretty fast, a culture of hockey, it'd have to.
And I love your jerseys, I love the advertisements. I have a Datsyuk Russian HC Dynamo jersey that has advertisements everywhere. Something about jerseys like it that strike me.

If you think the NHL have a shortage of fights... It's nothing compared to SHL.Prelude skrev:I love the fights, but NHL won't let them happen as much. I don't like to see anyone get too hurt, but some blood won't kill you.

Our referees are what you would call party poopers - if you fight you get a match penalty or maybe even game misconduct. Hell, sometimes you even get suspended 2-3 games for the littlest thing.
This season Djurgården team captain Jimmie Ölvestad got suspended for two games all cuz he threw his stick into the sideboards.
Watch the whole thing that lead to the disastrous and stupid suspention here. (about 2.26 into the clip)
